    Who We Are

    • The Ebell Club of Irvine was founded in 1974 as a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs and the sponsor for the Junior Ebell Club of Irvine.  Joining this club is a great way to form friendships and benefit the community where we live.  General meetings are the fourth Monday of the month at Deerfield Community Center, 55 Deerwood W, from 12 noon to 2pm, Sept. through June.

    • Our club is a 501(c)3 philanthropic organization dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service.   Our projects fall into six areas of service:  Advocates for Children, Arts and Culture, Civic Engagement and Community Outreach, Environment, Education and Libraries, and Health and Wellness.  Each year members decide which projects to undertake.

    • We work with a variety of non-profits based in Irvine and beyond.  Our projects frequently involve members giving of their time and/or money.   Several examples include volunteering at the Free Wheelchair Mission fundraiser, shopping for school supplies for Families Forward's Back to School Drive, sewing cuddle quilts for Human Options, and preparing and serving dinner at Ronald McDonald House for its current residents.

Each month members can donate food for Todd Anglin Home's Weekend Backpack project.  Backpacks are filled with the donated food to create meals which are provided to elementary school children who have been identified as homeless.

Over ten years ago members began designing and sewing one of a kind cuddle quilts to be given to women arriving at Human Option's temporary emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence.  The quilts add a bright spot to each bed and remind the women that there are others supporting their escape from abuse.

Each December for the last  30 years the Ebell Club has sponsored an Angel Tree for St. Teresa's Orphanage and School in Ensenada, Mexico.  In Oct. community members are given the opportunity to select the name of a child either living at the orphanage or attending the school.  In early December volunteers transport the gifts and donated food to St. Teresa's for a party.

Shortly after the first phase of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail opened in 2006, the Ebell Club of Irvine partnered with the City of Irvine to provide botanical signs to identify the plants along the trail.  As the length of the trail grew, the need for more signage increased.  To date, 89 signs have been sponsored by either the club or community residents who donated the funds for a sign.

There's always an organization that can use more diapers.

    Fundraising

The annual membership fee is $45.   We also raise funds to support our philanthropic work by holding a monthly Dine-out Day at a local restaurant, participating in Kroger's Community Rewards program, Garage Sales, and recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans.  We are always looking for a new way to raise funds.
